1. There were many art projects that i thuroughly enjoyed but none of the others compared to the shading and shapes peice. This peice was my favorite for several reasons, mainly how it ended up. The first reason this was my favorite was because of the amount of effort i put into it, i feel like for the amount of effort this should definently be my most successful. Secondly the blending of the colors from light to dark in each shape in my opinion is almost perfect. Another thing i love about it is the shadows following each shape. The color selection of each shape is also awesome in my opinion. The shading project is my most succesful because out of all the others i actually felt confident with it. The only thing i didnt like about it was the roundness of the circle and the straightness of the lines, but not every line can be perfect. To save you some time the other thing i loved was, well basically all of it, i thought this art work is a thing of beauty.
2. There were many projects that helped my artistic grow but i feel like the automobile sketch helped me out the most. The reason i chose this was because the finished product really showed me that i have somewhat potential. This project also showed me that i should not give up hope on art. Another reason i thought this helped me develope was i got alot of help from my table mates and tips from Ms. Rossi on how to shade and how to draw everything correctly. This project taught me that it doesnt nessecarily take skill but effort. I did multiple sketches of this car and if it wasnt good i threw it away, until i got a good drawing. Before i drew this i wasnt really trying in art and after i saw this i realized that i had alot more skill than i had previously thought. This project really opened my eyes and was a major step in developing my skills as an artist. Those are the reasons why i felt like the automobile shading peice was the most helpful and aided in the advancement skills.
3. A peice of artwork that demonstrates the very few artistic skills i do possess is probably my Landscape Painting. I chose this peice of artwork because it displays multiple examples of previous art work that i have completed in this class. One technique I used in this landscape was shading, there are a number of examples on this painting. For example the sand in the back ground is a lot darker than the sand in the fore ground, same thing goes for the ocean water being dark in the back ground and lighter in the fore ground, both of these examples are blended greatly in my opinion. Another thing that shows my growth as an artist is the way i used depth. I used depth in this painting to make the objects closer to the viewer bigger and the objects at the back smaller, almost as if you were actually there. Examples of this are the plants and the light grey rectangle to the left, which is actually the corner of the building. Lastly i used quite a bit of texture in this painting from the different shades of yellow in the sand on the ground all the way to the ocean blues and the stormy sky grays. I used to draw 2D drawings with no shading, depth or texture and now finally i have learned to use these techniques to make decent peices of art work.
4. In my opinion this art peice was the least helpful to learning new techniques and artistic skills. There are a number of reasons why the Cartoon Skeleton was the least helpful. The first reason i didnt like this was because it was pointless, in my opinion it did not teach me anything, there were no techniques highlighted in this art work. From rereading my blog on this it seems that it was an art peice showing my creativity and imagination, but if you wanted us to show our creativity i think you should have let us draw what ever we wanted and let us explain it to you. I had a great time creating this skeleton but looking back on it i realize how it didnt help me at all. All my other artwork used a multiple of techniques and this one was just simply sketching a picture like i draw on my homework. Another reason why i feel like this peice didnt help us learn any new skills is because we didnt, we did not use shading, depth, value, texture and pretty much every other technique in the book. Its a great idea for a picture, but it isnt a good idea to use when teaching students how to draw. I didnt mean to sound harsh but thats just my opinion on why i felt like the Cartoon Skeleton was the Least helpful to furthering my carreer as an artist.
5. The linolium print peice is one that i can relate to several times and reflects myself as an artist. The first way i can relate to this is picture itself, a turtle in the sky, I think this reflects upon myself because i am random just like the turtle, he should not be in the sky. Another reason it relates to me is because people say i work and move slow just like a turtle. Also I guarantee you that nobody in your classes have ever done a turtle in the sky, i like to think of myself as creative and this is a product of my imagination. Once again this picture shows that i like to think outside of the box, rather than having a typical toucan in a rain forest or a lion in the sahara. Surprisngly i used to own a turtle who died a couple months ago, so in a way this is my ode to Albus, the turtle. Lastly i like how this peice illustrates my devotion and time it took to finish this, completeing this took a bunch of steps and techniques to finally complete this peice. Basically the Linolium print was a painting that i could relate to in a way nobody else could, which is why its contents reflect me so well.
